Our Story and Mission
Giving every cat a chance to be feisty and fabulous.

Rodi’s love of animals began in childhood. Years later, she and her husband set out to adopt two rescued kittens and somehow came home with three.
What started as a small family of cats slowly grew as more animals in need crossed their path. Over the years, they opened their home to feral cats, seniors, medical cases, and cats who simply had nowhere else to go. Along the way, they learned that not every cat needs a new home. Some simply need a safe place where they can live with dignity, comfort, and compassionate care.
While working in another state, Jim also volunteered with a local rescue organization and helped save and place more than 100 cats.
Together, their experiences caring for vulnerable animals helped shape the vision that would eventually become Feisty & Fabulous Cat Sanctuary.
A story worth telling
Meet Chancey
The cat who welcomed everyone.

On a hot July weekend, friends told us about a sick cat who had been wandering between properties, crying for attention and looking for help. At the time, we had only three cats. We never imagined how much this little stranger would change our lives.
Chancey arrived painfully thin and dehydrated, with more than thirty ticks hidden beneath his collar area. He was infested with worms, struggling with diarrhea, and so weak that both emergency and regular veterinarians doubted he would survive. We later learned he had been declawed, making his time outdoors even more dangerous.
But Chancey had other plans.
Slowly, meal by meal, he began to heal. He regained his strength, put on weight, and settled into the safety of a home where he would never have to struggle alone again.

A second chance he shared with others
As more rescued cats arrived, Chancey showed us that he had a remarkable gift. Some newcomers were feral. Others were abandoned, frightened of people, or simply overwhelmed by an unfamiliar environment. Chancey seemed to understand every one of them.
After each newcomer received veterinary care and was cleared for introductions, Chancey quietly stepped in. He would nuzzle beside nervous cats, sit with them, and offer the companionship they needed to feel safe. While we provided food, medical care, and shelter, Chancey offered comfort, confidence, and friendship.
He became our greeter, our mentor, our peacemaker, and our feline welcome committee.

A little personality, too
Of course, he had his quirks. His unforgettable nickname was “Little Pisser, Big Nose,” and he was famous for insisting that the bathtub was his personal restroom, right beside the drain. Every single day. Once Chancey made up his mind, there was very little room for negotiation.
When a cat spends his days helping frightened animals feel at home, you learn to forgive the occasional eccentricity.

His legacy lives on
Near the end of his life, Chancey was diagnosed with cancer. We pursued radiation treatment, and for a time he responded beautifully. Eventually, the disease caught up with him, and we made the heartbreaking decision to let him go with love and dignity.
We still see his influence whenever a frightened rescue learns to trust, whenever a newcomer settles in, and whenever a vulnerable cat receives the kindness they deserve.
Some cats leave paw prints on our hearts. Chancey left them on the very souls of the people and animals whose lives he touched.
